Friends of St Michael’s Church - Financial Support
Whether you are a Parishioner, Villager or Friend of St. Michael’s Church, we, as Trustees, felt it important to update you on the ways in which we have used the funds raised to support the church building to date, what our plans are for the future, and to thank you for your continued contributions.
In previous years, we bought a new strimmer and funded the purchase of a small shed to meet temporary storage needs.
In 2024 we donated £1000 towards the cost of addressing a number of issues, identified in the recent Quinquennial report*, some of which relate to Health and Safety and include:
Repairing, replacing and repainting the rotting fascia boards, soffits and guttering
Replacing netting and louvres in the church tower to prevent bird damage
Repairing and re-laying the church path to enable safer access
Providing a handrail to the pulpit steps and altar
Servicing the bells and cleaning the bell-tower
Upgrading the ladder in the tower to enable safe access
This work will be undertaken by professionals and some of it will require extensive additional funding, both from donations and external grants, which the PCC is currently investigating.

Quinquennial Report - A Quinquennial Inspection is a detailed, professionally compiled report of a church which must be carried out at least once every five years. It highlights areas of deterioration or concern which should be addressed prior to the next inspection.
